Coach Peña was born in Cuba and leads our Baseball Academy. With over 19 years of experience, he has had had the privilege of working with some of the top MLB prospects in the game.
Coach Peña played a pivotal role in Brayan Peña's development. As many of you may know, Brayan played catcher for over 14 years in the MLB and Hemerson is proud to say that he was the driving force behind his success.
Through his years of coaching, not only has he honed his skills as a coach but have also gained valuable insights into the world of professional baseball. And now, he is excited to share his knowledge and experiences with the talented young athletes at Peña Baseball Academy.

Brayan Peña, CO-FOUNDER
Brayan Peña is a former professional baseball catcher who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for several teams, including the Detroit Tigers. Born in Havana, Cuba, Peña defected from Cuba in 1999 and signed with the Atlanta Braves as an amateur free agent in 2000.
Throughout his MLB career, Peña played for the Atlanta Braves, Kansas City Royals, Detroit Tigers, Cincinnati Reds, and St. Louis Cardinals. He retired as a player in 2017 and transitioned into coaching and mentoring roles within baseball.
In 2024, Peña was appointed as the Catching Coordinator for the Detroit Tigers, where he utilizes his wealth of experience and knowledge to train and develop catchers within the organization. As Catching Coordinator, Peña plays a pivotal role in refining the defensive skills, game-calling abilities, and overall performance of catchers in the Tigers’ farm system.
Peña is known for his passion for the game, strong leadership qualities, and dedication to helping players reach their full potential. As a bilingual coach, he effectively communicates with players from diverse backgrounds, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Off the field, Peña is actively involved in charitable endeavors, including initiatives to support underprivileged youth and promote baseball development in communities. He remains a respected figure in the baseball community and continues to make significant contributions to the sport both on and off the field..
Coach Juan, HEAD TRAINER / ASSISTANT COACH
University of Central of Florida alumni, with a Bachelor's degree in Sport and Exercise Science, Coach Juan has dedicated his career to helping athletes reach their full potential.
As a former collegiate athlete himself, he understands the dedication and hard work it takes to excel in sports. With over 10 years of experience working with professional athletes, he has developed a deep understanding of the physical and mental aspects of training. His focus is on developing not just player's physical abilities, but also their mental game to ensure success on and off the field.
Coach Juan is passionate about helping athletes reach their goals and is committed to providing the highest quality’s training to all the athletes at Peña Baseball Academy.
Coach Jose, 6U and 8U HEAD COACH
Coach Jose passion for baseball and for the kids is like no other. He is devoted to helping kids not only get better but to have fun. Jose currently leads our 6U and 8U division. Former baseball player at Park West High School in New York. As an adult he continues to play for independent leagues whenever he cans. He spends most of his time working and teaching the kids the same discipline and teachings that were instilled in him when he played baseball. He enjoys getting the kids ready both mentality and physically for the game and any obstacle that the kids may encounter not only on the field, but outside as well.
